Right...am I imagining things, or were there random jabs at Bush (starting war, continuing war, 'this is the end of democracy') throughout the film?

I think their presence has been overstated by many. Although Lucas is certainly no friend of Bush, let's not forget that the basic plot for this movie has been in place for a good 30 years now. But still, yeah.... eery.
