The whole Claudio/Hero relationship is a problem. There's that bit in the first scene where he says "I always liked her, but it's only now we're not fighting soldierly battles anymore that I'm going to let myself fancy her". For their relationship to work without me getting REALLY CROSS at Hero, I simply have to assume - for myself - that they were at the very least pretty friendly before the play began. Without any sort of justifying history, it doesn't really sit comfortably for a modern audience. D:
