Dear Yuletide Author,

First and most importantly, THANK YOU. If you've ended up with my prompts, you may or may not be facepalming at them, so please rest assured that in spite of my crazy fandom choices, I'm thrilled that you're writing for me!

You can find most of my fic here on AO3, and in the following communities on LJ (along with fic I read and love): [livejournal.com profile] dw_historical, [livejournal.com profile] thisengland, [livejournal.com profile] the_phrensies, [livejournal.com profile] femgenficathon, and [livejournal.com profile] ides_of_april. It's not directly relevant to Yuletide, but I've also got a selection of Harry Potter fic archived here.

A few general things before I get into specific requests.

I am happy with gen, het, or slash (M/M and F/F both). Whatever best fits the story you want to tell.

Things I love: Complicated, nuanced relationships; siblings and friends bothering one another; clever characters being clever; clever characters being idiots (in-character idiots, of course); longing; UST; emphasizin ur wimminz (see icon); Gothic undertones; classical allusions/references; musical references; historical references; Grand Epic Moments; genfic with just a bit of romance; snark; period detail (I am an absolute sucker for it); moral ambiguity; unreliable narrators; gut-punch endings.

Things I do not love so much: PWP; explicit kink (unless it's required by the plot); dubious or coerced consent (unless it's genuinely in-character); characters behaving unrealistically for the time period (whether canon or AU); invisible wimminz; using magic to explain things away (I'm looking at you, Philippa Gregory); using romance to explain things away; gratuitous violence.

And on to specifics!

Reign
Characters: Mary Stuart, Queen Elizabeth

Mary and Elizabeth were the only two characters listed who I'm interested in, but what I really, really, really want is fic about Catherine de' Medici. She is the reason I kept watching the show--much as I loved Adelaide Kane's performance as Mary, the plot holes and inconsistencies were so damn frustrating. (Also, the whole Condé mess in S2 made me so spitting mad I can't even.) But anyway. What I'm most interested in are the stories Reign chooses not to tell. This can take the form of missing scenes or an AU. I’ve got more concrete ideas in my Yuletide letter.

- Mary and Catherine interacting. Period. Their scenes together were almost always the highlight of any given episode, even when they had nothing to do or, conversely, utterly ridiculous nonsense to do.

- Mary and her ladies-in-waiting. The show kept making gestures toward the complex power dynamics at work in these relationships, but they never quite committed until the very end of the S3 Lola plotline (even then, that felt forced at times, though I loved it in concept).

- More about Lola and Elizabeth during Lola's stay in England. I'm ambivalent toward Lola/Narcisse as a ship, mostly because the show kept shortchanging Lola to add unnecessary drama, but I liked a lot of the political implications of Lola sort of being a hostage but also sort of working the system in her own way. At least until it all went pear-shaped.

- Really, more about Lola in general. There were so many interesting aspects to her character that got hinted at, but were never properly explored.

- What on earth happened to Kenna?

- A day in the life of Greer's escadron volant. Or, if you'd rather, Greer and her daughter post-canon.

- AU Prompt. Fix the Season 2 mess for me. I will love you so much if you do.

Peaky Blinders (TV)
Characters: Grace Burgess, Polly Gray, May Carleton, Lizzie Stark

Grace is one of those characters who I feel was done a terrible disservice in the later seasons. She had her own motivations and drive in Season 1 that seemed to disappear in Season 2 when she re-entered the narrative as nothing more than a love interest before being fridged to push forward the plot. This vexes me. I’d love to read a story about Grace that feels more in line with what we saw of her in Season 1. If that’s not your cup of tea, though, I’d happily read an entire fic about Polly cleaning up the messes of all the men in her life while sipping cocktails and rolling her eyes, or something about May or Lizzie battling the system.

...also if you felt like throwing in any sort of crossover between Peaky Blinders and Boardwalk Empire...I'd be down for that.

I am totally serious about that crossover. Especially with the Prohibition stuff going on in Seasons 2 and 3, I truly expected someone to mention Nucky Thompson. But that's a bit huge, so I completely understand if it's not everyone's cup of tea.

But, really, I love the women on this show and would be happy with anything that gave them more to do.

15th Century CE RPF
Characters: any

This is the fandom of my heart. Fic about any of these ladies individually would make me happy. Crack AU where they somehow all end up in the same space? Totally fine with that too.

Just what it says on the tin.

Wars of the Roses RPF
Characters: any

Hey, I had no idea this was a fandom! Basically the same rules apply as above. Thrilled to see any of these ladies.

Okay, so the following can probably apply to both of the last two prompts. I have been studying the fifteenth century for nearly two decades now and I have a number of (probably ridiculous) headcanons, but please know that you absolutely don't need to be bound by those or even to glance at them. My favourite interpretations are the ones that don't pit women against one another by default, but I know how hard it is to write that kind of story in either of these fandoms, just because of the available sources.

Also, I have NO PROBLEM with people incorporating Shakespeare, Thomas More, or any of the sixteenth-century authors who played around, however inaccurately, in this fandom--just tag it or mention it in a prefatory note (I promise I read them every single time) and I'll know to expect it.
