Oh, completely! It does make me sad that I don't get to include GRRM in my dissertation, because he is totally basing at least A Game of Thrones on the latter end of the Wars of the Roses. Things branch off from that point, but the first book is full of parallels. Although the Lannisters have always seemed linked to the Woodvilles in my mind with Cersei as his version of Elizabeth Woodville. Unless she's Margaret, which, if so, that makes for a number of fascinating possibilities...
