They served me well...

I had this pair of boots. I bought them sometime in fall of 1999 and they served me extremely well through my entire OSU career.
Tonight, however, they faltered. The right heel literally fell off as I was walking into the Dining Hall. I thought I'd stepped into a hole in the floor.
This was after I'd gotten them fixed in September. ::frowns::
I have been summarily ordered to replace them. However, they served me well and I will miss them. I don't know how many people noticed them, but they have been with me through all sorts of things. For example...
--The London trip, December 2000
--Twelfth Night, February 2001
--"All the Faire's a Stage," May 2001
--Much Ado About Nothing, March 2002
--The Plays of David Ives, May 2002
--Bath Study Abroad Progamme, July-August 2002 (including climbing rocks on Inish-Mór)
--"Four Jacks and the Queen of Hearts," November 2002
--The Tempest, February 2003
Lots of stage time. Interesting.
But they are now gone. And I actually have to look for new shoes. Bah humbug.
(Explanation for mood: I had a lot to drink, including two glasses of champagne, one glass of claret, and at least three if not possibly more glasses of port. And yet I'm still attempting to work on my essay for supervision tomorrow. I really do have strange urges.)
